Choosing stair and edge tucking tools

Start with the usable opening

Measure where the working edge will touch carpet, including clearance around stair returns. A broad blade covers more of a straight section, while a narrower blade can be easier to place in a tight corner.

Pick a contact surface and way to apply pressure

A nylon tool lets you press by hand near trim. Check the product's instructions if the work calls for tapping. A steel tool with a documented strike cap is a different choice from a plastic tucker with a hand grip.
