Cut or remove the strip

Check the width of new strip before choosing long-jaw cutters. To remove old strip, look for a pry point and fulcrum that can work beside the wall. A carpet puller grips the carpet edge instead.

Choose leverage for exposed fasteners

A short fork tip reaches individual tacks near trim. A long wheeled staple lifter needs space to pivot on the exposed floor. Test your contact point before working near a finished surface.
